Jets Not Perfect In Loss
The Jets fell to the New England Patriots by a score of 20 – 10. The experts had all predicted a blowout but that did not happen. Unless they add another column into the standings that reads “moral victories”, the final score does not make much of a difference though.
The Patriots improved to 14 and 0 and face the Dolphins and Giants on their march towards a perfect season. The Pats ran the ball often due to the weather conditions. Laurence Maroney ran 26 times for 104 yards with one touchdown. On a positive note that Jets were able to keep Mike Vrabel out of the end zone, that is always a plus.
The Jets now stand at 3 and 10 in what has been a very frustrating season for Gang Green. Kellen Clemens was hit on his first pass attempt (an interception that was returned for a touchdown) and never returned to the game. The Jets used a combination of Brad Smith and Chad Pennington for the rest of the game. Chad was efficient but not effective enough (23/38 – 186 yards).
The Jets did some things well (blocked a punt and returned it for a TD and Leon Washington had a long return late in the 4th quarter). They also made a lot of mistakes
(Ben Graham had a punt blocked which setup an easy Patriots Touchdown. Jmac made several mistakes on offense and special teams. Chris Baker fumbled when the Jets were in field goal range and the offensive line struggled once again).
This team is playing hard and they haven’t given up on this season, so that is encouraging. At the end of the day the story remains the same. You can say that they played well, just not well enough.
